Can't swim in a 1 by 1 hole

 When I went swimming on one of my older worlds I had a secret entrance to one of my bases. It was a 1 by 1 hole and my character won't fit in with only fit in a 1 by 2.  It seems like the village and pillage update interfered with this mechanic.
