I can't pick up water with my bucket

I had a water bucket but then I accidentally tapped but the bucket couldn't pick up so i had to but a block on it to stop it from flowing

What I expected to happen was for the bucket to pick the water up

*Nothing was happening i couldn't even destroy the water source block

*Steps to Reproduce
