Can't see Other peoples Chat on a Realm and Weird looking Text

I can't see someones chat on a realm, idk why. I need help. I have a suspicion it's something to do with the friending system. I need help though.
Also I Can't change the look font of my text it looks weird and not like the Minecraft Text, if anyone can solve any one of these issues then i would be happy.
