Stone brick slabs disappeared when crafting them in a stonecutter with 63 in inventory beforehand

When using stone with a stonecutter to make stone brick slabs, and already having 63 stone brick slabs in my inventory, I lost nearly two stacks because the slabs I created acted like they were going into the 63, but they just disappeared instead. My inventory was not full or anything, the slabs were just gone
