Screen changing while playing to a different color

I was playing a new world and just started to get wood then my game would freeze and then it would turn blue and I could still hear the noises in the game. After I tried to get the menu to pop up to return to the title screen, it would force crash/ close and I would have to reboot it again. I tried playing a couple more times and I could for a bit but it just would keep freezing then showing a blue screen then over time it would go to red then black but it just would work at all. I just had previously updated it before playing it so that I could access the realms again, but it would load and have a completely new character model for me and it would crash with that same character model even though I changed it in the beginning.
