Drops glitch when falling (Switch)

I was building a base and flying around with my elytra and everything was fine until I flew back to my half-finished base. about 10 blocks away from the base I dropped some cod I had. I then realised the cod was glitching, by bouncing in the air. It should have fallen straight down.
