Bug in the Minecraft versions

Hello, I would like to report a bug in minecraft happens that my version of the game is 1.12 and my friend's version is the latest, 13.9 I would like to know the reason for the problem and how to fix it Note: My friend downloaded Minecraft from Gamepass and I downloaded it normally. We both played on Xbox One
