Lost all my stuff because I pressed home on switch

I pressed home on my Nintendo switch to suspend the software then I went back in about 2 seconds later and I had died and my stuff wasn't where it was it had not passed 5 minets though and now I have lost alot of diamond gear I had immedet respawn on and was fighting a skeleton and 2 zombies but pressing home pauses software so I'm not sure how I died I was on full health
