Game crashes in area with poor water flow

I recently updated to the newest beta build of minecraft, and was clearing out an island next to my base to place magma blocks under a bridge. However over recent updates water does not seem to flow correctly and acts as if it placed against invisible blocks. This occurs only near this area as i can observe. Whenever i go to close to these water sources my game will freeze and require a dashboard to escape.
