Selector Argument in /tellraw Doesn't Work

When using the /tellraw command, the "selector" argument is supposed to display the targets name. For example, @p will display the name of the closest player. However, it doesn't register the argument at all, making the command fairly limited. The first screenshot is the command line, and the second is the displayed output
