Skin data does not save

The skin data doesn't save, EVERY time I play I must go search out the skin I prefer because it isn't even saved in my "recent" skins, a few can be saved in recent but not all. Not the one I mainly use. It defaults to Steve every EVERY time which is frustrating and time consuming unless I wish to play as the (let's face it not very neat/attractive lol) default in the male gender, which I am not and I prefer to play as my own.
