Can't craft continuously

In the tutorial's (section “How to play”) crafting branch said press and hold the item in the output slot to craft continuously. I try it out but nothing happens. I have searched on the internet but it seems no one talks about it. I don't know if just me misunderstand the instruction or no one cares about it. It is very annoying to press thousands of times to craft large quantity of stuff.
