Cannot connect to friend's world.

Me and my friends recently got together again and we wanted to create a world where we could all play together. My friend created it on an xbox one whereas i play on a samsung galaxy s8.
He sent me the invite to the world but I received nothing. I checked the xbox app to see if there were any notifications but none were seen. I went back to minecraft and opened the friends tab. Even though my friend was in the world i could not see the world. He had his options to invite only and like i mentioned previously, he did invite me. He then proceeded to leave the world and make it friends only for Multiplayer but i still couldn't join. Please fix this issue. It's not resolved, the issue still occurs to this day.
