Chat not shown for anyone.

I (TheEnderMCpro) am playing on my realm with my friend  hackerman848. We cannot see each others messages in chat, but I can see his /w or /say messages. However, he cannot see mine when I do this. The messages do not show as hash tags. I am playing on Android and my friend on IOS. My friend on Win10 joined and is able to talk to me through chat. He, however, cannot talk to my friend who is on IOS
