Crops and baby animals won’t grow unless player is within range of it

I spend most of my time in my base with minor farms such as wheat, potatoes and carrots  that grows normally at a reasonable rate. while many in-game days past, bigger wheat farms and potato farms away from my base hasn’t grown much at all. Same thing with big animal farms away from my base. A lot of the animals are still infants. I have to be near the farms for them to grow.
