Problem with game not taking full screen

When minecraft pocket edition is downloaded through the amazon appstore on an Android device not made by amazon with a screen who's aspect ratio is odd, a large vertical black line appears in the right hand side of the screen. There is no work around through the phone settings on android 9 and there is no setting in game that fixes the problem. Changing the screen safe area does not work. This does not affect the gameplay but it is very bothering as the actual game is only being playing on about 80% of the screen.The device I am using is a pixel 3a that is is fully updated with all software updates as of July 10,2019 and running Android 9.
