Unable to see pictures/Icons and crashing

When I first installed the game and launched it everything was fine until I tried to join a world. My PC completely crashed and turned off unexpectedly. When I booted up minecraft again I was able to create a world and join it but all the pictures and Icons were invisible. I tried to reinstall minecraft multiple times but it just keeps on doing the same thing.
