Horse disappears randomly and never appears again

When I was playing in my world I put the horse in a pen and exited the game and came back and then my horse was gone & this was my second horse. What happened to the first horse? Well it disappeared as well even my dog disappeared and when I got my second horse he randomly appeared then disappeared with my second horse. My first horse still hasn’t appeared yet. This just randomly happens.
