Ender dragon Hideously laggy

I went to the end to fight the dragon in single player, and Ithe screen froze every 20 seconds and would kick me from the app. Every time I reopened it the same thing happened. I turned off every extra feature, graphics, sound etc. and the same thing was continuing to happen without change. I have prepared so much for this fight and I am extremely disappointed that I cannot excute my plan.
