Lingering potions do not dissapate

When lingering potions are thrown, they remain there apparently indefinitely. I attempted to clear it by walking through myself, leading pigs through, blocking it with blocks, waterlogging it, lava-logging it reloading the chunks, creating a copy of the world, and of course waiting. This creates a lot of lag and visual disturbances.
