Ender Dragon not taking damage

Me and my sister were fighting the Ender Dragon, one player Creative one player Survival. I hit it only once with an arrow when all the End Crystals were destroyed, but it's health bar did not go down. Also, I couldn't get hurt by the purple misty stuff that it breathes. I couldn't get damaged by anything except fall damage.
