If I've purchased the game on my switch and it uses my Microsoft account, why can't I seem to play on my PC?

I just recently purchased Minecraft on my Nintendo Switch.  It uses my Microsoft account for logging in.  I thought I could use it both on my PC and my Switch.  On the forums folks who purchased it on their PC talk about how to use it on their Switch.  However I can't seem to figure out how to make my PC recognize that I already have purchased Minecraft.
