Unable to teleport sleeping villagers through commands

Steps to reproduce:

1. Spawn a villager;
2. Place a bed nearby and wait for it to be claimed by the villager;
3. Set time to night or midnight;
4. Type /tp @e[type=villager] @s.

Expected results:
The villager is teleported to you, leaving the bed.

Observed results:
The message "Teleported Villager to [Player]" is displayed but that doesn't happen at all.

 

Additional information: After some tests with multiple villagers, I've noticed that sometimes one of the 16 villagers does get teleported, so it's inconsistent as well.
