Will not allow me to add entities to scoreboard

When I try to execute the /scoreboard players add @e (objective name) command, the game says that there is an unnecessary “”, and it won’t work. I am trying to make a zoo where hostile mobs become passive, and this is a problem. I will be providing a screenshot as well. Thank you
