Certian Resource Packs Using Custom Blocks Crashes Game

When using some resource packs that contain custom blocks, Minecraft crashes during any attempt to access the creative inventory or use the give command to obtain the custom blocks. This seems to occur randomly as in, not always with the same resource packs.
