Cartographer trading glitch

When I try to quick trade emeralds for a cartographer map, it doesn't give me the map. The item just flashes into the hotbar and disappears, but I lose the emeralds. When I try to put the emeralds into the box manually, the trade button becomes greyed out, and it is impossible to trade the emeralds. The cartographer is the required level for the trade and I have unlocked the previous tiers. This means the "Treasure Hunter" achievement is unobtainable for me.
