powered rails/hopper mine cart

mine carts shake violently and do not move on powered rails.  When using hopper mine carts the shaking stops but the carts do not continue moving correctly.  

I did a simple circle track with 3 powered rails next to each other.  THe cart makes a few circles then stops.
