Save & Quit does not save

I will be on my world working for any amount of time and sometimes when i press save and quit i quit but apparently i don't save I've lost 10+ hours of grinding to this and it has made the game unplayable because if i put any work in there is a 50/50 chance none of it will save. very motivating to not play
