Mob spawners spawn monsters despite the light source.

Recently (April 23, before an update)  I've found two mob spawners close together. I put torches on it and went away. Now it seems that they are spawning mobs, even despite a lot of torches everywhere. How am I supposed to do double exp farm now ?
