Lingering potion particle do not disappear

I was throwing lingering potions of harm and instant health around in creative mode, and I expected the particles to leave after a while, but after I finished building a cage on the same map and went back to where I threw the potions, the particles are still there. Then I went to check the inventory space and it did not show how long those potions will last while others did.
