Textures aren't very normal-looking

So I decided to pick up minecraft on my windows ten laptop (which specs perfectly match what it needed) and things were very "off", textures were missing, chickens were only 2 legs walking, pigs just disappear, and skins from the hanger button were simply headphones and other odd things, I need some serious help and its kinda annoying because I spent $26.95 and I didn't pay for this so
