Switching to another tab causes my game to freeze.

When I go to a different tab (Alt + tab), minecraft stops, so when I am on a server and need to go to a different tab as in amazon music or discord, I go back into minecraft and have a huge internet lag spike that disconnects me (This only happens when I go to a different tab so far).
