Furnaces aren't smelting correctly

Furnaces in the 1.11.0.1 Beta for Windows 10 (running under Developer Mode) aren't taking their inputs as they did in the previous beta. So far I've noted the following:

• Furnaces will not take dried kelp as fuel
• Furnaces will not take bowls as fuel
• Furnaces will not smelt sandstone into smooth sandstone with any fuel
• Furnaces will not smelt stone into smooth stone with any fuel

Furnaces are not totally broken, however. Cooking beef and melting sand are still possible using coal.
