Unable to get Furnace Achievements

Unable to receive the achievements Super Fuel and Renewable Energy. I am able to get other achievements however, such as Alternative Fuel. 

I have placed a bucket of lava in an empty furnace and used it to smelt stone. Did not receive achievements.

I have placed a piece of charcoal using all the different types of woods in each case and did not receive the achievement.
