end portal teleported me to a black screen that I cannot escape and I cannot reload my world after I exited it to escape

attempted to go to The End threw an ender pearl into the portal and was teleported a black screen void that I cannot escape. I saved/quit my world and now when I try to reload and open my world it does load it is stuck on generating world load screen
