Since the recent 1.9.0 update it crashes frequently.

Ever since I updated to the most recent version (1.9.0) earlier today, I am rarely able to play for more that five minutes at a time without the program freezing or crashing. After reading some online tips, I tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling it. This solved the problem for around one hour, but it began once more at the same frequency.

 

It is becoming very frustrating as I purchased the game only a week ago and it is causing it to become unplayable as the crashes cause me to lose, at times, several minutes of progress.
