Flying machines do not function properly

When building a flying machine (examples provided) in Bedrock on xbox one, the machines will move a few blocks correctly then repeatedly move back and forth stuck in the same space until blocked with obsidian or broken...yes I built everything 100% correctly but they all do not function as intended. If these issues could be resolved or these could be explained in detail that would be fantastic.
