Player 2 cannot interact with tamed mobs

When playing offline in split screen mode, even though both players are signed in to xbox profiles, after saving & quitting and signing back in later, player 2 doesnt own their tamed mobs. The mobs appear in the world as tamed but are not owned or controlled by any player.
