Main Menu not working

Whenever I open the game, I can't do anything in the menu and I have to restart my computer to close the game. Sometimes it works, but most of the time it doesn't. When it does work, the menu keeps freezing and unfreezing and it takes several tries to get to the menu to pick a world. If I do manage to get in the world, the game works fine, but it usually breaks before I can.
