Keeping boots after death

I was playing some survival and I died when I got my items back I didn't see my iron boots then I opened the armor tab and they were in there on my feet. I'm have only tested it with iron so I don't know if it effects other types

What I expected to happen was...:
That I would lose my boots when I died

What actually happened was...:
I kept my boots

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Play some survival
2. Get iron boots
3. Then die
