Saves load at world spawn, in mid air, where i instantly plummet to the ground and die

Summary says it all. Sometimes, but not always, when i load a saved game i appear high above the world spawn point and immediately plummet to my death. It's happened so many times, I've built a pool at the spawn point to keep it from insta-killing me. Total pain
