Invisible barriers

While exploring in survival mode I come up against an invisible barrier that I cannot go around. I just stop also I notice I can't break blocks or interact with anything past the barrier. I cannot get past the barrier unless I quit and restart but then it eventually happens again. Also sometimes when I spawn I'll be up in sky and fall to my death. That only occurred about 5 times and hasn't happened in a couple of days. I am playing on a iPad mini  4 if anyone has any insight or help it would be appreciated thanks .
