White screen with bedrock edition; minecraft logo does not appear

I applied the 11-DEC-2018 Minecraft version from google play. Launching the application goes to a white screen and remains there.  The minecraft logo goes not appear.

I wiped and restored the OS and clean installed MCPE. Also wiped any texture packs from /sdcard/games/com.mojang. Same result.

A screenshot is pointless; it's a white screen.  It does not splash the logo.  Occurs when wifi is running or in airplane mode.  Hardsare is compatible, amd the app was functional until the update occurred.

I am uncertain how to assist troubleshooting this on android. Tell me what you need performed and I'll attempt it.
