Frozen world between nether and overworld in “generating world/building terrain” screen

Version 1.7. It forced me to put 1.8 for some reason. 

My world is frozen when I was teleporting from nether to overworld I closed out of the game. When I came back the world was frozen in the “generating world/ building terrain” screen. Sometimes it shows nether blocks, other times it shows dirt. 

I have tied the following with no success: copying the world 

Deleting and reinstalling Minecraft

changing the texture. 

Changing all setting (render size, creative, survival, adventure, any video setting)

I have read about this issue in old versions but not in 1.7. I’m having no luck. Thanks.
