Lava generating in pillar jumping blocks

I was pillar jumping to get out of a cave on multiplayer in my realms server, did about two sets of going up and down by pillar stacking when the third time digging down I dropped into lava I am sure there shouldn’t be any lava generating because it is a pillar with placed blocks. Also when I went back there was no lava in the place I died. Please fix. Lost items.
