Plants placed next to a coral block break

When trying to make a garden, I sectioned the plants off with coral blocks, but while planting the plants, the plants touching the coral blocks broke.

What I expected to happen was...:  ** The plants to grow normally.

What actually happened was...:  The plants broke as if I was jumping on them.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Create a dry room underwater
2. Fill the floor in with tilled dirt blocks with a water source 
3. On the same level as the dirt blocks, make an X with coral blocks
4. Plant any food plant (I tried with beetroot) near the coral blocks
5. The plant will break
