No Hostile mobs

There are almost no hostile mobs spawning, I've only been attacked by one hostile mob and it was a spider. I am assuming that there is a dark place where all the hostile mobs are spawning but I would greatly appreciate if they spawn all over the places evenly, like the pc version.
