Intermittent water transparency and snagging

 I have been experiencing an intermittent water transparency issue. Each session is different. Sometimes I will enter the water and it will be black. I still have the food bar, health bar, armor bar, and hotkey bar. I will end the session and start a new session. I enter the water in the new session and I seem to snag on the surface of the water before dropping below water level. But I'm able to see all aquatic features.
