Weird shadow glitch with dropped objects

(Couldn't get a screencap because I don't think bedrock edition has an F2 screencap button)
Whenever you drop an item into a larger shadow, it'll do a weird "swallowing" effect? I'm not sure if this was in earlier versions or is intentional.
