Fish from buckets not staying the same

Fish are suddenly difficult to put into buckets and when placed from buckets their size is random and with tropical fish their **color and name changes upon either failing to be collected or being placed. cod doesn't really change that I can tell but I don't have any other fish currently.

I'm pretty sure this used to work properly or at least the size. I've restarted the game and I've tried doing this on a different save and have the same thing happening. The videos better explain what I'm trying to say

 

Side note: Are Salmon supposed to get that large? I've never seen one that large until now
